Busch & Müller have made it possible for bicycles to have daytime running lights, a feature previously only available for motorized vehicles. The T versions of the Lumotec IQ Cyo headlights offer perfect 24-hour safety features. Beneath the main headlight, which projects the brilliantly homogeneous light of the IQ-TEC onto the road, distinctive LED points are illuminated in one or more rows. These serve as signal LEDs to alert other road users. This function cannot be achieved by a correctly adjusted bicycle headlight alone, as its light beam is limited upwards by a sharp light-dark boundary and directed towards the road.
The version of the headlight with an integrated reflector also provides the safety benefit of near-field illumination. The StVZO (German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations) requirements are always met, even in day mode, as the main headlight is then dimmed to the minimum required brightness. Two of the signal LEDs take on the parking light function, which is more effective than previous downward-facing parking light solutions that were less conspicuous to other road users.
The design features of this front light include StVZO approval, a parking light function, and a weight of only 100g. It has a rotary switch that is ergonomically integrated, a compact size of 52mm diameter and 66mm side length (including the front reflector), and an intelligent aluminum heat sink design with air vents. It comes standard with the parking light function (using capacitor technology, without batteries) and the German certification mark. The parking light can also be switched off, providing anti-theft protection.
The power supply is via a hub dynamo, and the light source is an LED with an intensity of 80 lux. This is 20 lux more than the standard version, providing improved daytime running light performance. The headlight is fully StVZO approved.
